This is the New CrewBoss Logo and Our Journey in Firefighter PPE

We are excited to announce that our company, CrewBoss, is undergoing a rebranding initiative. We believe that this new branding will better represent who we are as a company and what we stand for.

As CrewBoss advances its firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE) to be the best fit for you and your team, we have now evolved our logo to match the strength and versatility we provide in our gear. Since our inception in 1988, CrewBoss has established itself as a high-quality PPE provider to firefighters across the United States and now the world. From humble beginnings to a full rebrand of our business in 2023, CrewBoss has gone through quite the journey. What exactly was this journey like? Keep reading to find out!

CrewBoss began in 1988 with a vision, ambition, and hopes to become the most trusted source of wildland apparel for firefighters everywhere.

1988 - How It All Started

CrewBoss began in 1988 with a vision, ambition, and hopes to become the most trusted source of wildland apparel for firefighters everywhere. We started by offering a single coat and a wildland firefighter pant to begin the journey.

We additionally offered a base camp shelter through our sister company Western Shelter. The two companies provided the basics of what base camps and firefighters needed for fire season. You can learn more about Western Shelter base camps here

Through hard work and determination, CrewBoss quickly rose in popularity among the fire community. For those who answer the call, CrewBoss became a staple during dangerous, mission-critical scenarios.

2000 - First CrewBoss Wildland Apparel Catalog

At the turn of the century, CrewBoss released its first catalog showcasing the full capabilities of what we could offer to wildland firefighters.

Having a catalog allowed us to introduce new ideas to our end users and gave us easy access to inspire others. You can view what our most recent catalogs look like here

2010 - Providing Safety with Rehab Trailers

To stay in compliance with NFPA 1584, CrewBoss began offering fire rehab systems for firefighters. It provides everything you need to run a full-scale firefighter rehabilitation operation on-scene in just minutes.

You can utilize the Rehab Trailer as an EMT treatment room with enough sitting room for fire personnel or a single gurney with multiple EMT staff.

We have built a heavy-duty, multi-tiered cart on durable caster wheels with features such as a turnout gear hanging system to avoid decon situations. The heavy-duty cart also comes with large grab handles to make maneuvering easy and efficient.

At the station, it takes up minimal space, and the large wheels make moving and loading easy. You can utilize extra carts to organize gear inside your rescue and response trailers. Place your heavy Search & Rescue gear on a cart and easily roll it closer to the event.

2018 - Branching Out

While CrewBoss began as a Wildland company, we wanted to expand the protection we could provide to all firefighters and other first responders. We listened to our end users’ comments and decided to expand what we offered to include Technical Rescue (TREX) and station wear apparel.

The entire TREX line is certified to both NFPA 1951 for technical rescue and NFPA 1977 for wildland fire, making it the ideal PPE for a broad range of applications. With the vast majority of firefighter injuries related to heat stress, keeping your core body temperature down is just as much about safety as it is about comfort. TREX gear helps to keep you cool by providing the protection you need for most incidents without the heavy thermal liners found in structural PPE.

Your department’s station wear should be comfortable, durable, and protective - all while looking good. CrewBoss station wear looks great while keeping you safe by meeting the NFPA 1975 certification in comfortable fire-resistant fabrics. FR-rated station wear will not melt or catch fire under your turnouts and retain color substantially longer than traditional cotton firefighter station wear. Find out why major departments are switching to CrewBoss station wear here.

While we continued to expand our portfolio of offerings, we wanted to stay true to our core values, and that’s exactly what this new logo represented.

2019 - New Ownership

CrewBoss undergoes new ownership and receives a revamped logo that you can see here. Brand evolution represents adaptation, innovation, and growth. While we continued to expand our portfolio of offerings, we wanted to stay true to our core values, and that’s exactly what this new logo represented. A symbol of our roots and the legacy CrewBoss built.

2020 - Women’s Station Wear

Dedicated to providing the best protection and comfort, CrewBoss released its first line of women’s station wear. We made the line with our female firefighters in mind and offered a versatile style of comfort unlike anything seen before.

As the most visible part of a uniform, a class B shirt needs to be crisp and professional while providing superior protection and functionality. Our station wear comes in Nomex and Tecasafe, which you can learn about these and other great fabrics here

2021 - Women’s Wildland Gear: Ember

Due to the growing demand for Women’s wildland gear, CrewBoss worked on developing its own line named Ember. The grand release came in 2021, and you can learn more about how it all came to be by clicking here

CrewBoss wants to thank all our end-users and testers for making this happen. It was a long process to give accessible wildland apparel to all our first responders, and we could not have done it without them. To learn more about one of our end users (Hannah Haley) who helped create our Ember line, you can read about her story and contributions here

2021 - Quaker Acquisition

To continue building upon how we could protect those who answer the call, CrewBoss acquired Quaker Safety Products and expanded into the turnout market. CrewBoss was the ideal partner to carry forward and build upon what Quaker had to offer.

Together, our combined product suite answers the needs and requirements that firefighters face daily. Furthermore, bringing Quaker into the CrewBoss catalog allows for a more well-rounded offering giving complete protection to any scenario imaginable. 2022 - Serket Acquisition

CrewBoss seized an opportunity to join forces and bridge the cross-functional requirements within the outdoor defense and tactical performance technology needs of the Department of Defense. Based in Eugene, Oregon, Serket designs and manufactures protective apparel and personal equipment protection solutions for those who protect and serve in the Armed Forces and Federal Law Enforcement.

Through both CrewBoss and Serket’s resources, the two brands can now protect with no melt/no drip PPE as the backbone. To learn more about how Serket came to be, you can read all about it on their website here.
